What is Candida?

A common question we get from our customers is, “is candida a yeast?” The answer is yes, candida is a type of yeast or fungus that lives on and inside the human body. Small amounts typically exist on the skin, inside the mouth, vagina, and gut. Under normal conditions, candida is harmless. In fact, our bodies need a certain amount of Candida to stay health and balanced. However, when an overgrowth of candida occurs it causes a myriad of health problems and cognitive symptoms. You may be familiar with a few different types of candida overgrowth:

  • oral thrush
  • vaginal yeast infections
  • toenail fungus
  • depression
  • brain fog
