Best Laundry Detergent for Mold: EC3 vs. Remedy

Updated September 8, 2026. This comparison is published by CitriSafe, the manufacturer of Remedy Laundry Liquid Detergent. EC3 Laundry Additive is made by Micro Balance Health Products, which is not affiliated with CitriSafe. Prices and advertised offers can change.

The useful distinction is straightforward: Remedy is a complete detergent; EC3 is an additive used with a separate detergent. Compare the dose for your washer, the cost of every product used in the load, and the delivered order total.

What each product adds to your routine

Remedy Laundry Liquid Detergent replaces your regular detergent. The 32 fl oz bottle provides about 32 normal loads at 1 fl oz per load. Larger loads may require more. Follow the product directions and your washer and fabric-care instructions.

EC3 Laundry Additive is used alongside your regular detergent. Its current product page specifies 1 fl oz for high-efficiency washers and 2 fl oz for other machines. A 32 fl oz bottle therefore supplies about 32 loads at 1 fl oz or 16 loads at 2 fl oz. EC3 can suit a household that wants to keep its existing detergent.

Compare matched doses and current prices

32 fl oz bottles; product costs before tax and shipping
Purchase choice Bottle price At 1 fl oz per load Separate detergent?
Remedy, regular one-time purchase $29.40 About $0.92 No
Remedy, 15% Subscribe & Save $24.99 About $0.78 No
EC3, regular one-time purchase $23.00 About $0.72 Yes; add its cost per load
EC3, advertised 10% subscription $20.70 About $0.65 Yes; add its cost per load

At a 1 fl oz dose, Remedy’s $24.99 subscription bottle costs about $0.781 per load. EC3’s $20.70 subscription bottle costs about $0.647 per load, plus detergent. The difference is about $0.134: if your separate detergent costs more than roughly $0.14 per load, Remedy’s product-only total is lower at these doses and prices.

For example, adding a detergent that costs $0.20 per load makes EC3’s combined subscription product cost about $0.85 per load. A detergent costing $0.10 makes it about $0.75. These examples show why there is no single cost comparison that fits every household. They exclude shipping and tax.

For a washer requiring the 2 fl oz EC3 dose, a bottle supplies about 16 loads: about $1.44 per load at its regular price, or $1.29 at the advertised subscription price, before adding detergent. Remedy’s example assumes its normal 1 fl oz dose; larger loads change its cost too. Use the directions appropriate to each product and washer.

Shipping can change which order costs less

CitriSafe’s direct store offers free standard US shipping when a delivery totals $75 after discounts and before tax. Smaller orders receive a shipping quote at checkout. Micro Balance advertises free US retail shipping at $49, subject to its terms. Compare both delivered totals before choosing; a lower product price does not always mean a lower delivered cost.

Two Remedy bottles provide about 64 normal loads. Their merchandise total is $58.80 at regular price, $49.98 with 15% Subscribe & Save, or $47.04 for an eligible first website order using a personal welcome code. These two-bottle totals are below CitriSafe’s $75 free-shipping threshold. Shipping is additional and depends on the order and destination.

When each option may fit better

  • Choose Remedy if you want a complete detergent in one bottle. Its one-product routine may be useful when you want fewer measuring steps and do not need to retain a particular base detergent.
  • Consider EC3 if you prefer to keep your current detergent. Its additive format lets you retain that product, while adding the separate EC3 dose and cost.
  • Choose the order size and schedule you will actually use. Do not buy unnecessary products or subscribe simply to meet a shipping threshold.

This is a comparison of product format, published directions, and purchasing costs. It does not establish that either product produces superior health outcomes or clinical results. Laundry products do not replace correcting a building’s moisture or mold source.

Measure accurately and follow the label

Measure fluid ounces rather than guessing by the cap. Follow the product label, washer instructions and fabric-care label; use the recommended dose for the load. Keep laundry products out of children’s reach. For questions about a medical condition or sensitivity, consult your clinician.
