Test and Treat Candida
What You’ll Need
Understand Candida’s Health Impact
Candida is naturally occurring in our bodies, but when we have too much of it, it can lead to health effects that you can see and feel. Candida reproduces in our bodies, in particular our gut, but when it over-reproduces it can lead to yeast infections throughout our bodies. Because of Candida’s unique properties, it can be difficult for our immune system to combat and can even be resistant to conventional drug treatment.
Common physical symptoms of yeast overgrowth include vaginal yeast infections, oral thrush, and toenail fungus. It can also cause depression, brain fog, and cognitive symptoms due to a candida receptor in the brain. When these conditions appear, sometimes only the symptoms are treated without ever addressing the root causes. Our approach at CitriSafe is to help those affected find the root cause whether that be in your environment or your diet.
Address Candida’s Root Causes.
Candida is a Mold Issue
Mold growth in your living spaces can cause candida overgrowth within you, when the mycotoxins in the mold affect your body’s natural flora, depress your immune system, and allow the candida to flourish. Additionally, high levels of candida in your environment can recontaminate and reinfect you if not properly treated. Our Remedy products have been formulated to help with mold and yeast problems naturally, without setting off chemical sensitivities.
Candida is an Antibiotic Issue
Overuse of antibiotics can have the effect of killing the “good bacteria” throughout the body (especially in the gut), allowing the yeast component of your system to overgrow. Our Citri•Rx Probiotic+ is a pre/probiotic supplement that helps support your health by promoting restoration of the lost good bacteria.

Find Out if You Have Candida Overgrowth
Find out if you have a Candida overgrowth by checking for symptoms, testing your environment, and testing your body.
Determine whether you have an obvious Candida overgrowth in your body.
Visual Symptoms
Skin: Skin issues such as eczema, psoriasis, hives, and rashes.
Oral: Thrush or a white carpet film on the back of your tongue.
Hands & Feet: Toenail and fingernail fungal infections.
Pelvic: Vaginal infections, urinary tract infections, rectal itching, or vaginal itching.
NOTE: Not all Candida infections are obvious. Consult with your doctor or a medical professional to determine if you have an overgrowth of candida.
Physical Symptoms
Fatigue: Feeling tired or suffering from chronic fatigue.
Gut: Digestive issues such as bloating, constipation or diarrhea.
Skin: More significant skin issues are caused by autoimmune dysfunction throughout the body including eczema, psoriasis, hives, and rashes.
Mood: Behavioral issues such as irritability, mood swings, anxiety, and depression.
Sinus: Chronic RhinoSinusitis is one of the most significant chronic illnesses in the US impacting over 50 Million Americans. In 1999, the Mayo Clinic published a study demonstrating that 93% of chronic sinusitis have a fungal component to the chronic cycle.
Throat: Reflux is a common side effect and ENT physicians often find large amounts of Candida in the back of the throat and esophagus.
Mold Test Kit
Test your environment to determine if you are being exposed to mold or yeast. Use the Mold Test Kit to test rooms that you spend most of your time in and to swab any visible mold growth. For a comprehensive protocol on testing your environment for mold, see our “Testing for Mold Protocol”.
ROOMS
Test Rooms
Test your home with gravity plates included in the Mold Test Kit in high traffic rooms or any area suspected of having mold or yeast contamination.

Analysis
Self-Analysis
If after 4-5 days significant numbers of small shiny milky white dots appear, it is likely you have Candida.
NOTE: Swab samples require laboratory analysis.

Mold Test Kit
Test your body for Candida using a gravity test plate.
Test Personal Items
Tap Test Clothes & Bedding
Hold the plate so the yellow agar is facing towards recently used clothing and bedding. Tap the object 4 times (The yellow agar should not touch the object). This will force the mold and yeast spores into the air and onto the plate.

2. Address
Address any Identified Candida Issues
If the presence of Candida has been confirmed, we need to address the Candida issue in the body. Our protocol focuses on dietary changes and detoxification with natural products, safe for the chemically sensitive, to potentially aid in improving your health.
NOTE: Restoring your body only works if your environment is restored as well. High levels of mold, yeast, and bacteria in your environment, eventually make their way back into your body. If your mold tests have come back with significant mold, see Restore Indoor Environments by Fogging or Misting for more information on treating environments.
Consider your diet as a major contributor to Candida overgrowth. Choose a diet that removes all carbohydrates, especially sugars, and alcohol to starve the Candida (possible diet programs include: Carnivore, Ketogenic, and Paleo). Making dietary changes requires discipline and can be challenging without guidance. Temporary diets may help deal with your current Candida problem, but healthy living and Candida prevention require long-term change. Focus on your mindset and create new healthy eating habits that are sustainable for the long haul.

Neilmed Sinugator
Irrigate your sinuses with Citri•Rx Agrumax and the Neilmed Sinugator.
Add Agrumax and Saline Solution to the Sinugator
Irrigate Daily with the Neilmed Sinugator
NEILMED SINUGATOR TIPS
- Irrigation should not be painful. If pain occurs, adjust your technique to angle the irrigator towards the roof of your mouth.
- If water goes down your throat, you are not leaning over far enough. Lean over more until it stops going down your throat.
- To get all of the water out after irrigation, keep your head all the way over the sink. Turn head all the way to the right to empty the right side, and then repeat on the left side.
3. Maintain
Maintaining Environments
Maintaining your environment is crucial to making sure Candida doesn’t return. Our Remedy products have been developed to affordably help address mold issues and to clean your home with chemical-free natural solutions. Additionally, we recommend periodically testing with the Mold Test Kit to assure that mold levels stay in a healthy range.
Mold Test Kit
Use the Mold Test Kit to periodically test rooms that you spend most of your time in and to self-test if you think you have related symptoms. See Step 1. Analyze for instructions to test your environment and test your body.
Remedy Maintenance Candle
If your environment is safe, rely on the Remedy Maintenance Candle to help keep it safe.
Use Maintenance Candles
Periodically burn the Maintenance Candle to help keep Candida levels in check. Frequency of burning should be based on symptoms and mold test results.
GET THE MOST FROM YOUR CANDLE
We typically recommend burning the candle for 2 hours in a
12’ x 12’ room (~150 ft2), and moving it from room to room until all areas are treated. If worried about leaving an open flame, place the candle inside a large pot and move the pot from room to room.
Remedy Mold Treatment Spray
Use Remedy Mold Treatment Spray to help keep surfaces and carpets safe.
Spray Surfaces
Apply Remedy Mold Treatment Spray to surfaces to clean and maintain.
Spray Carpets
Apply Remedy Mold Treatment Spray to carpets to clean and maintain.
If your environment has unsafe levels of mold, yeast, and/or bacteria, a more intensive treatment is needed. We recommend the non-toxic misting or fogging treatments from Haven™ by BioBalance.
